With a Foreward by Viscount Eccles, a member of the Roxburghe Club, who produced this facsimile of the original in the British Library for his fellow members of the Club A magnificent undertaking, reproducing Rotz’s celebrated charts. The Boke of Hydrography is the earliest surviving work of the Dieppe cartographers to show ‘the Londe of Java’, later ‘Java la Grande’, which hints at the existence of Australia.

Coloured illustration to the titlepage and 16 double-page coloured plates, and 11 illustrations in the text. Fine original half morocco, Henry VIII’s insignia of crown above a double (Tudor) rose stamped in gilt to upper board, top edge gilt.
