On 25th February 1879 a statue of Captain James Cook was erected in Hyde Park, Sydney. This copy of the Programme of Proceedings bears the signature of John Jackson Calvert (1830-1915) on the margin of the first page in red ink. Calvert held the positions of Clerk of the Parliaments and of the Legislative Council at the time.
