Very good, fresh copy of this uncommon book – a richly illustrated work presenting a summary of the progress of the military science in general and fortifications in particular, considering Dutch, Spanish and Italian systems compared to the French developments of Chevalier de Ville, Comte de Pagan and, naturally, Vauban.
The content is divided into four parts: structure of fortifications, arrangement and moving of armed troops, defense of different fortifications and artillery. First published in 1735.
